The relatively new concept of cloud telephony has come of age. The main idea behind this concept is that services are hosted in the data centers and run smoothly over the Internet infrastructure. Till now, the cloud communication was data-centric only but as VoIP has evolved, voice has become a part of cloud telephony. Although cloud communication is important for business enterprises but they are not aware of the concept and wonder how it would help them.

Google has shifted to cloud communication for growth. The success of Google Voice, Google Wave and Google Apps has proven that Web based communication apps can be provided from the cloud-based platform as effectively as software-based platform and that too at relatively low cost. Taking into consideration this fact, Microsoft is now considering to shifting its services to the cloud based platforms.
